It has come to my attention that the Village has received multiple recommendations regarding our bulk water station, and I had requested it be put on the agenda as these are serous concerns. Ultimately, my council has decided not to address these concerns at this time.
Galvanized Pipe
Galvanized pipe is not recommended in potable water applications and should be replaced immediately.

Galvanized pipe has been against code since the early 1980’s due to concerns about potential lead and cadmium leaching. 2 I am very concerned about how this recommendation has had no action in the 5 years since the report.

AB Environment suggests we switch to an air gap system at the bulk water station, which would change the current hose system to a retractable funnel configuration that would prevent any suction of water back into the system in the event of a loss of pressure.
This is a picture of the bulk water hose in August 2026, as you can see there is still no air gap system and the hose is absolutely disgusting.
Why are we not maintaining this ?
