Have you ever discovered your signature on a document that you didn’t sign?
I have.
on the left, is a waiver of notice I signed on June 16, 2026.
on the right, is a waiver of notice for July 22, 2026 that seems to have
my signature; Except I never signed it.
I have been pushing back on the use of MGA S 194 1 as it seems to be constantly used to exclude members of the public from council meetings.
I have demanded proper practice be followed and waivers of notice be wet signed prior the meetings, I have also questioned the practice of photocopying waivers of notice, as that is not council agreeing to the meeting under MGA S 194.
Subsequently, I reported the photocopying of said waivers to Municipal Affairs.
At the July 16, 2026 meeting council was presented with approximately 10 blank waivers of notice and encouraged by our CAO to sign them all. Which in my opinion was to skirt any questions by Municipal Affairs regarding photocopied waivers of notice.
I refused, which is why the signed June 16th waiver was altered and used again for July 22nd.
I took serious issue with my signature appearing on a document I did not sign.
Unfortunately my fellow councillors do not see the issue with my signature appearing on a document I did not sign which allows council to meet without notifying the public.
